‘The Fifty’ – Pencil Manuscript


Comprising a double-paged spread, this original and truly historic document records all the names of The Fifty who were slain in the aftermath of The Great Escape, Bushell, Kirby-Green, Bull, Hake to name just a few. Drawn in Pencil in the North Compound of Stalag Luft III by F/Lt Keen shortly after the event, it stands as a rare and abiding tribute to those Allied POWs who braved tunnel Harry in search of freedom, only to meet a tragic end.
